Residential Glass Repair & Installation | Washington DC, MD & VA

Same-Day Home Glass Repair Across The DMV

Prestine Glass Solutions repairs and replaces glass in homes across Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, most of it the same day you call.

Most calls are not really about a new window. A pane cracked. A double-pane unit fogged up two winters ago and never cleared. A shower door came off its track. A patio door that used to glide now needs a shoulder behind it.

In every one of those the frame is usually fine and it is the glass or the hardware that failed, which is a much smaller job than a replacement window company will tell you. Licensed, insured, and set up for same-day home glass replacement across the DMV.

Our home glass work covers broken window glass repair, foggy glass replacement, glass door installation, patio door replacement, glass shower doors and skylights, with 24/7 emergency response across the DMV.

Window Glass Repair.

Cracked panes, failed seals, and shattered glass in homes of every age across the DMV.

Two things account for most window calls. Breakage, which is obvious. And seal failure, which shows up as a haze between the panes that no amount of cleaning will shift. Seal failure is age rather than anything you did.

Both get fixed inside the existing frame. On older homes with original wood sash, reglazing the sash usually costs less than a replacement window and looks a great deal more like the house. Every opening measured on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a cracked window be repaired or does the glass have to be replaced?
The glass has to be replaced. Nothing restores the strength of a cracked pane, and the crack keeps travelling with every temperature swing. The frame almost always stays, though. We cut a new pane or insulated unit to the opening and fit it into what is already there, which costs a fraction of a new window.
It depends on the size of the opening, the type of glass, and whether the frame is staying. Replacing a failed insulated unit inside an existing frame sits well below the price of a replacement window, and that is what most calls turn out to need. We measure on site and put the price in writing before anything starts. The visit is free.
Yes, around the clock. Break-ins, storm damage, accidental breakage, all the same response. We board up the opening first so the house is secure, measure at that visit, and schedule the permanent glass straight away. Typical arrival is a few hours. You reach a person, not a voicemail box.
The perimeter seal on the insulated unit has failed and moisture has got into the sealed cavity. It cannot be cleaned, because the moisture is sitting in a space you cannot reach. Defogging services drill and vent the unit but do not bring back the insulating value. Replacing the sealed unit inside the existing frame fixes both the look and the performance.
Yes. A shower or tub enclosure is a hazardous location under the building code across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, so tempered safety glass is required and ordinary annealed glass is not permitted. That is not an upsell, it is the code, and any glazier quoting untempered glass for a shower is quoting something they cannot legally fit.
For replacing glass in an existing frame, generally not. Changing the frame, enlarging the opening, or altering the exterior appearance of a property inside a historic district is a different matter. Historic districts are common across this region and the process differs by jurisdiction, so we check the address at the estimate stage and tell you what applies before anything is ordered.
Washington DC across all four quadrants, the Maryland counties around it including Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Baltimore County, and Northern Virginia. Same-day service and emergency board-up across the whole area.
