The closer is the part that pulls a commercial door shut and holds it there. When it fails you notice fast: the door slams, swings shut too slowly, stops short of latching or just hangs open. A streak of oil down the door or frame is a sure sign the closer is leaking and on its way out. Prestine Glass Solutions replaces and adjusts door closers on storefront and entry doors across the DMV.
Most storefront doors use one of three types: a surface-mounted closer you can see at the top of the door, a concealed closer hidden in the top of the frame, or a floor closer set into the ground under the pivot. We work out which one you have and replace it with a closer that suits the door’s size and traffic.
Out of adjustment or leaking. Adjustment can help for a while; a leaking closer needs replacing.
A worn closer that has lost its strength, or a door that has dropped on its pivots.
A door that will not shut leaves the building open. Call and say it is urgent.
A closer that is clean and dry but closing badly can often be adjusted: closing speed, latch speed and back check are all set with the valves on the body. A closer that is leaking oil cannot be fixed in place, and topping it up does not work. It has to be replaced. Floor closers are a bigger job because the unit sits in the floor and the door has to come off to reach it.

Take a photo of the top of the door from inside, and one of the floor under the hinge side. That tells us which closer type you have. If you can see a brand name or model on the closer body, send that too. Then we bring the right unit and fit it in one visit where possible.
A door stuck open after hours is a security problem. Call 571-621-0898 any time. Related: storefront door repair and emergency commercial door repair.

Tell us what broke and where. Photos help us quote faster.
For emergencies we clear the hazard and board up or secure the opening.
We measure on site and order the right glass and hardware.
We fit the permanent glass and leave the site clean.

The internal seals have failed. Once a closer leaks it will keep getting worse, and it needs replacing.
If the closer is not leaking, adjusting the closing and latch speed often fixes it. We check that first.
A closer built into the floor under the door, common on all-glass and some aluminum entrances. Replacing one means taking the door off.
Yes, on commercial glass and aluminum doors. Tell us the door type when you call.
No. Prestine works on commercial and residential building glass only. We do not do windshields or vehicle glass.
